So yeah, after all the introduction stuff in OAD1, OAD2 is pretty much the PWP service-service episode. That being the case, I’ll let the screencaps do the rest.

So, it’s here. And it’s exactly what was expected. Screencaps galore.

EDIT: I must’ve watched this while drunk or asleep, because of all the misses I made. Hence the overuse of “del” tags after a second (and currently third) rerun.

Negima! Ala Alba : a big ‘almost’

Apparently all the recent Type-Moon stuff diverted my attention, as I only realized today that 8 days ago, the first part of OAD1 was available online. For some reason, I never got this memo. Cue head-smacking.

With that out of the way… anyway, it seems the number of preorders (~60,000) weren’t quite up to the “TV Series 3″ requirement (100,000). Which means either we get a movie – about what though, I have no idea – or it’ll take another year or three before another Negima! animation attempt.

Well, in any case, OAD1 starts with the finale of the Battle of Mahora, Chao and Negi’s midair duel. Al gets his introduction, and the Magic World arc begins… right after the Summer arc.

PS: And I would like to direct a big “WOW” to Sunrise for throwing a wrench in my theories in the first five minutes of Code Geass R2 14.

I really don’t know why I’m doing all these quips all of a sudden. Well, I’m a bit busy these days, so I guess that’s a half-baked explanation for it.

HAPPY MATERIAL RETURN.

It’s a bit lower than what I expected on the visual level, but it is very faithful to the original design. Let’s hope, for the last time, this one won’t suck.

But let’s be honest, it’s pretty hard to be bad when all they’re doing is taking intermediate material (2nd Summer arc) from between two major arcs (Battle of Mahora and the Magic World). It’ll be the actual TV Season 3 where they’ll be tested, especially with pacing.

And no, the hilarity of seeing a quip about Negima! above a half-serious entry on snipers is not lost on me.

EDIT: When I look back on it, the Negima!? OP was actually really promising, what with the dramatic music and high-quality visuals. This might be one of the main reasons why so many fans of the original were pissed off when SHAFT fully unveiled its reworks. Ah, well, maybe when they do Season 3 they can bring back this song.
